Connect your AI tool

Prerequisites

• A COMMITLY subscription with AI Connect (included in Professional, add-on in Basis and Business) and a free MCP seat.
• Account owner or admin rights to activate it.
• An AI tool that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth.

Activate AI Connect

1. In COMMITLY, open Add-ons and click Connect on the COMMITLY MCP Server tile. If no seat is free, COMMITLY asks you to book one.
2. COMMITLY opens Settings → Integrations. Copy the MCP server URL shown there.

Note

Always use the URL from your own account. The connection type is Remote HTTP; the required OAuth scope is mcp:tools.

Add COMMITLY to your AI tool

Menu names change between versions and plans of the AI tools; the principle stays the same: add a custom connector with the URL, then sign in with your COMMITLY account.

Claude

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, give it a name such as COMMITLY and paste the MCP server URL. Click Connect and sign in with your COMMITLY account.

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, open the settings for Apps & Connectors and create a custom connector with the MCP server URL and OAuth authentication. Sign in with your COMMITLY account when prompted. Custom connectors are not available in every ChatGPT plan.

Cursor

Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project) and sign in when Cursor asks:

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http commitly YOUR_MCP_SERVER_URL

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and authenticate with your COMMITLY account.

Disconnect

In COMMITLY, open Settings → Integrations and click Disconnect on the MCP server. Access ends immediately; billing ends with the current paid period.

Where your data is processed

The data the AI tool queries is processed by the AI tool you chose. If your data must stay in the EU, use an EU-hosted or self-hosted model. The built-in COMMITLY AI processes data in the EU only.
